Walk-In Media New York Office Update with Eric van den Heuvel

Welcome to the first blog post from Walk-In Media North America. We’re excited to share what we have been up to since we opened the office at the start of the year.

First of all, the traditional ad industry summer slow-down has passed us over this year - actually it has passed us over every year since 1994 which was when AT&T ran the first ad banner on HotWired.com. We have been busy launching new campaigns, winning new business and hiring staff to work on all these amazing accounts.

What we’ve been up to…

As we entered 2022, we were already putting pen to paper on two new account wins. First, in collaboration with our network agency, Stein IAS, we won global media duties for Juniper Networks to manage their brand and demand media programs. Days later, our joined-up network, MSQ Partners won the global, full-service assignment for CFA Institute to support their certification business. Both campaigns launched in early spring and have been full speed ahead since then.

The spring remained busy with the team engaged in several new business pitches for both media-only accounts, as well as full-service assignments in cooperation with our agency partner The Gate New York. A rigorous pitch process resulted in the award of the Crowdstreet account, a full-service assignment to develop and launch a brand campaign, targeting accredited investors in North America who want to invest in commercial real estate. We then won the National Retail Federation (NRF) account to support them in promoting their trade show events and driving registrations. Last, but certainly not least, we picked up global media duties for Tradeweb who builds and operates electronic financial marketplaces. New business never lets up and we are currently in three active pitches, we cannot share who they are but be assured, if we win, you’ll be reading about them in a future post.

The New York team

New business means fresh staff to support all the work that needs to take place. We doubled our media analytics team and welcomed three amazing new hires. Hoseung Baek joined our team in February as a Senior Data Strategist from the University of Massachusetts by way of South Korea where he served in the Navy (thanks for your service Baek). Kate Burns joined in April as a Digital Media Analyst, she transitioned from the finance industry and is also a graduate from the state of Massachusetts. And, this summer we welcomed our new Director of Analytics, David Grey who brings a wealth of experience Most recently, David was Director of Client Growth & Analytics at another media agency, but we are most interested in his time at Subway where he claims to have invented the Sweet Onion Teriyaki sandwich – we will have to take his word on that.

Our New York Office!

That’s all for now, back to our day job collaborating with amazing clients on their media programs and helping them grow their brands and deliver business outcomes that would make our mothers proud.
